What happens when you explore.

This notice separates the settings stored on your device from the information received by Meanwhile’s hosting and external content providers.

Hosting is provided by OVHcloud. This privacy notice is still being finalised, including operational details and the contact mailbox.

What stays in your browser.

Meanwhile remembers language, favourites, audio settings, camera framing and automatic tour duration in local storage. It also keeps local playback observations and, if you save a quiz result, the name and score you enter. These records are not sent to a Meanwhile account or database.

Public ISS orbital data and ship position data may be cached locally to limit repeat downloads. Session storage remembers a background view and a decorative sound animation state. These are not your location.

Saved preferences and results have no automatic expiry in the application: they remain until overwritten, removed by you or cleared by the browser. Session data normally ends when the browser tab or session closes. Cached tracking data is refreshed or ignored when too old for use.

Camera players, pictures and sound.

Loading a stream or a remote image connects your browser to its provider. That provider receives your IP address and technical request information and may use cookies, local storage or its own audience measurement, subject to its policies and your browser settings. This includes YouTube/Google and the camera operators used for the selected view.

In this version, some external content can load on arrival, including the home background and refreshed previews, before you click Play. There is currently no site-wide control that blocks all third-party players and their trackers before consent.

Soundscape’s music and ambient audio connect to Lilo-Fi services when activated. They are optional and can be stopped independently. Stopping a player does not erase information already received by its provider.

Maps and moving markers.

The detailed map can request map data and fonts from OpenFreeMap. The ISS marker uses public orbital data from Where the ISS at?, and the Falkor (too) marker uses public Schmidt Ocean Institute feeds hosted on Firebase. Each service receives the connection information needed for the request.

The map shows camera, spacecraft and vessel locations. Meanwhile does not request your device’s precise location.

Contact and technical logs.

The contact links open your email application. Nothing is sent merely by clicking the link; you decide whether to send a message. If you do, your address, message and any attachments are processed to handle your enquiry, correction or rights request. This is based on the publisher’s legitimate interest in responding and maintaining the service, or on a legal obligation where applicable.

The website is hosted by OVH SAS (OVHcloud), 2 rue Kellermann, 59100 Roubaix, France. The contact mailbox is not yet active. The operational details of logging, email processing, retention and any international transfers remain to be confirmed.

No Meanwhile account or audience analytics.

This version has no sign-in, newsletter form, booking checkout or audience analytics service added by Meanwhile. Third-party services may have their own measurement. External travel links do not currently contain an affiliate identifier.

Your choices and rights.

You can stop sound, remove saved favourites and clear Meanwhile’s local site data in your browser settings. Clearing site data removes local preferences and quiz results; it does not delete records held by an external provider. Restricting third-party content may prevent a stream or map from loading.

For personal data handled by the publisher, you may request access, correction or deletion and, where applicable, restriction, objection or portability. Use the contact address below, specifying your request without sending unnecessary identity documents. Requests concerning a broadcaster’s own processing should also be addressed to that broadcaster.

You may lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority.
